Ground transportation platform Blacklane has named former Uber and Clear executive Kasra Moshkani to serve in the new role of CEO of the Americas, effective immediately, as the "luxury mobility business expands its USA-based team, operations and investment," the company announced Thursday.
Moshkani will be based in Miami and report directly to Blacklane CEO Jens Wohltorf.
Moshkani most recently was EVP at secure identity company Clear and previously held leadership positions at Oyo and Uber, according to Blacklane. His remit will include leading the U.S., Canada and Latin America and building dedicated teams to grow Blacklane's presence, especially in key cities for global corporate travel.
Blacklane's "Americas business is growing at double-digit rates—and with established partners like airlines and new partners like credit cards, we're seeing an exciting acceleration of our growth," Moshkani said in an email to BTN. He added that Blacklane also is hiring general managers for teams primarily out of hubs in Miami, New York and Los Angeles.
In addition to those cities, Moshkani noted Boston, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco as U.S. cities, along with Toronto, with "high growth in corporate travel."
"In some cities where our operations are newer and therefore smaller, there are huge opportunities to grow via our different services such as longer city-to-city journeys and by-the-hour bookings," according to Moshkani.
Blacklane is seeing growth across several industry sectors, with return-to-office a strong driver in areas like financial services, consulting and tech, Moshkani added.
Further, former Blacklane general manager for Miami Olivia Caringi has had her role expanded to oversee the company's business in the eastern U.S. and Latin America.
[Update, Oct. 2] The company also promoted Blacklane COO René van Olst to CEO of EMEA and Asia-Pacific. Van Olst is based in Berlin and also will report to Wohltorf.
Van Olst "has been instrumental in Blacklane's growth and electric vehicle initiatives over the past six years as COO. In his new role, he will drive the company's continued expansion across established and emerging markets, including Dubai, London and Riyadh," according to Blacklane.
