Alaska Airlines later this month will offer Covid-19 testing for passengers in a pop-up clinic in downtown Seattle via a partnership with health care provider Carbon Health.
Testing will begin Oct. 12, and passengers can begin scheduling appointments on Oct. 8 for the test, which will cost $135 for passengers and provide results within two hours. It will be open to all Alaska passengers, though the carrier is particularly targeting travelers to Hawaii, who will be able to avoid quarantine requirements with negative test results. Alaska plans to restart twice-daily service to the four major Hawaiian islands from Seattle on Oct. 15. United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and American Airlines each also have announced testing programs for Hawaii passengers.
The state of Alaska also has a 14-day quarantine requirement for arrivals that can be shortened with negative test results, according to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.
Carbon Health is planning to open clinics in more U.S. cities in the coming weeks, including several from which Alaska also will be restarting Hawaii service: Portland, Ore.; San Jose, Calif.; and San Diego, all from which Alaska will begin Hawaii service on Nov. 1, and Los Angeles, from which it will begin service on Nov. 20.
Alaska Airlines also is working with the Port of Seattle to make on-site testing available at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
