Andy Robustelli, the Hall of Fame football player who
launched a career in travel after his playing days ended, died Tuesday at the
age of 85.
Robustelli starred as a defensive end for the Los Angeles
Rams and the New York Giants from 1951 to 1964.
In 1965, he bought Westheim Travel in his hometown of
Stamford, Conn., and renamed it Robustelli Travel Services. The corporate
travel agency went on to become Robustelli World Travel and grew to become a
regional travel management company.
As the company grew, it developed other businesses, such as
corporate incentive and merchandising services. Those businesses exist today under
Robustelli Corporate Services.
Robustelli exited the travel agency business when Hogg
Robinson Group acquired Robustelli World Travel in 2006.
