JetBlue's inaugural airport lounge will open Dec. 18 in Terminal 5 at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport, the carrier announced Thursday.
The 9,000-sq.-ft. two-story lounge, dubbed BlueHouse, will accommodate up to 140 guests and be available to Mosaic 4 members of JetBlue's loyalty program, JetBlue Premier cardmembers and transatlantic Mint customers. The former two categories will be allowed one complimentary guest. All other guests will incur a $39 per-person fee.
The reason for the initial limited access "for our most loyal customers" is to "make sure the lounge does not become an overcrowded space," JetBlue president Marty St. George said Wednesday during a media preview of the space.
Beginning in February 2026, BlueHouse "limited-access passes" will be available for levels 1 through 3 Mosaic members, JetBlue Plus and Business cardmembers, non-transatlantic Mint customers and annual BlueHouse members, according to the carrier.
When asked if lounge access eventually will become a negotiation factor for corporate customers, "it all depends on occupancy," St. George said. " It's a lot of money, it's eight-digit spend just up front … and we had to make absolutely sure that this would really scratch the itch for the customers who wanted this experience. If we get to the point with occupancy where we think we can do that, it's not off the table.
"Fundamentally, this is not a business-driven product or a leisure-driven product, it's a JetBlue customer-driven product," St. George added. "This is not bet on a wish to get more business customers to fly transatlantic Mint, although I would love for that to happen. This is primarily based on our existing customer base that had a pent-up demand for this type of product."
The space features high-speed Wi-Fi, "ample" power outlets, a game room, open seating and quiet areas. At first, the food mainly will feature grab-and-go items prepared by Union Square Events. Phase-two plans include adding a kitchen possibly in the second half of 2026.
The downstairs full bar seats 10; the upstairs bar serves beer and wine. JetBlue partnered with local businesses The Greats of Craft, Please Don't Tell, Joe Coffee, Dona and Steven Smith Teamaker for its beverages.
JetBlue's second BlueHouse lounge is planned for Terminal C at Boston Logan International Airport in 2026, according to JetBlue. Fort Lauderdale as a third location is under "evaluation."
