Average U.S. daily hotel rates in April increased by 2.8
percent year over year, according to hospitality research firm STR.
Of all U.S. markets, Miami had the highest April ADR increase,
up 13.1 percent year over year. Increases were not universal, however, as rates
in Washington, D.C., declined 2.9 percent.
Overall U.S. hotel occupancy in April was 61.2 percent, up
4.8 percent compared with the previous year. Occupancy was up by at least 10
percent in several markets, including Nashville, Norfolk-Virginia Beach,
Orlando and Minneapolis.
