Air Canada in 2026 will expand service at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport with four new transborder routes and increased daily flying to Montréal and Ottawa, Canada, the carrier announced Thursday.
The start of the transborder service will follow the opening of U.S. Customs and Border Protection preclearance at the island airport, which will allow customers to clear U.S. customs before departure, according to the airline.
Air Canada on March 29, 2026, will launch four-times daily flights between Toronto Billy Bishop and New York's LaGuardia Airport. On June 1, the carrier will begin twice-daily flights between Billy Bishop and Chicago O'Hare International Airport and once daily to and from Washington Dulles. Three-times daily service to and from Boston Logan International Airport will begin July 1.
The four transborder routes will be operated as Air Canada Express using a 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft, according to the carrier. Twenty-five of those aircraft are about to receive a redesign, including new seats with seatback holders for tablets and phones and table trays. The installation is expected to be completed in mid-2026.
In addition, Air Canada in January will add a daily flight between Toronto Billy Bishop and Montréal, bringing the service to nine return flights daily. It also will add two frequencies between the airport and Ottawa, bringing the total of daily return trips to six.
