United Airlines in summer 2027 will add 10 new international destinations to its network and three new routes across Europe and Asia, the carrier announced Tuesday.
Though most of the new destinations lean toward leisure travel, some will appeal to corporate travelers, most notably daily Newark-Luxembourg service, set to launch April 2 and operate year-round on Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
"Luxembourg is an important business corridor with U.S. tax and banking ties," United SVP of global network planning and alliances Patrick Quayle said on a Monday afternoon media call. "Corporate customers will now save multiple hours of travel time by connecting Newark and Luxembourg nonstop."
Year-round service between Washington Dulles and Toulouse, France, starts April 26 and will operate daily with Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Airbus has a facility near Toulouse, and its North American headquarters is near Dulles. "We're hoping Airbus employees will use their product" to fly between the two destinations, Quayle said.
United will offer service between San Francisco and Okinawa, Japan, a new city for the carrier, beginning March 27 and operating three times weekly on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft through Oct. 27, 2027. Newark also will serve seven more new destinations in summer 2027, including:
- Ljubljana, Slovenia, slated to operate four times weekly on Boeing 767-400ER aircraft between May 12 and Oct. 29
- Olbia, Italy, on the coast of Sardinia, three times weekly on Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft May 27 through Sept. 20
- Catania, Italy, on the island of Sicily, four times weekly on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft June 9 through Sept. 20
- Ibiza, Spain, four times weekly on Airbus 321XLR aircraft May 31 through Oct. 7
- Valencia, Spain, three times weekly on Airbus A321XLR aircraft from June 2 through Oct. 6
- Marseille, France, operating daily on Airbus A321XLR aircraft June 4 through Oct. 29
- Terceira, Portugal, in the Azores, three times weekly on Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft June 9 through Sept. 5
In addition, United is adding new routes to destinations it already serves from three U.S. hubs. The carrier on March 27 will add daily service between Los Angeles and Osaka, Japan, operating year-round on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Flights between Dulles and Milan are scheduled to begin May 28 and operate three times weekly on Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. Another new year-round route will be between Denver and Paris, operating daily on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The carrier also plans to resume San Francisco-Tel Aviv service on March 28. Flights will operate year-round three times weekly on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Quayle noted that five of the 10 new destinations serviced will be with the Airbus A321XLR, which is the "newest international aircraft" in the United fleet, and it "will play an important role in the next phase of our international growth," he said.
Quayle also said that all four of the new European routes added this past summer through Newark—Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain—will return in 2027.
Last year, United also had said all the new international routes added in 2025 would return in 2026, however flights between Dulles and Dakar, Senegal, ended in January 2026, according to the carrier. The route "did not perform to expectations and was canceled, and there are no plans to bring it back to market," Quayle said.
As for whether any other markets added in 2025 and resumed in 2026 will return in 2027, United said it would "evaluate existing routes flown this summer after the season has concluded."
