Travelodge CEO Joanna Boydell resigned her post on Monday, and CFO Ray Reidy has been named interim CEO effective immediately, the company announced Thursday.
Boydell first joined U.K.-based budget brand Travelodge as CFO in 2013 and was named CEO in 2022, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her resignation comes after public criticism of the hotel chain's inadequate security protocols following a series of incidents in which hotel guest rooms were accessed by unauthorized individuals. In one incident in December 2022, a female traveler was sexually assaulted at a Maidenhead property after a man was able to access her room by misrepresenting his relationship with the woman to front desk staff, according to the BBC.
The company said it commissioned an independent security review led by barrister Paul Greaney, the results of which were to be released this summer, according to CoStar.
Travelodge is conducting a formal CEO search. Reidy will continue as CFO and interim CEO until a new chief executive is found. He has been CFO since 2025.
