The Lufthansa Group has partnered with Amadeus to use the
technology company's modular Nevio products, which will enable the airline
company to transition to an "offer-and-order" management system, the
companies announced Wednesday.
Lufthansa plans to use Nevio's "AI-native, modular
solutions" for nine airlines in its group, including Lufthansa, Austrian
Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss, according to Amadeus. The airline
company also will be among the first to adopt Amadeus' Delivery Management
product, which will work with Nevio Offer and Order Management.
"The focus is on the introduction of an 'Order ID,' a
new identification number that will eventually replace the previous booking and
ticket numbers and bring together all components of a trip," according to
Lufthansa.
The new Order ID is being introduced gradually at carriers
in the Lufthansa Group "and complements existing offerings such as Travel
ID, which will continue to display the personal customer profile,"
according to Lufthansa.
Amadeus added that its "capabilities such as a digital journey
pass and fulfilment tracking will allow passengers to be recognized at key
points in the journey, while supporting more intuitive handling and
personalized services."
Currently in development, the journey pass, or journey code,
is a technical reference that will be used by travel service providers, and it
will not be visible to travelers, according to Amadeus. It will link the Order
ID and passenger reference, "enabling efficient data retrieval and
seamless interaction between systems."
Neither company included an adoption date, but Amadeus noted
that Lufthansa "will follow a phased rollout and decide in due time which
airlines and shopping channels to go live and when for Orders."
Air France-KLM, British Airways, Finnair and Saudia have also signed on to Nevio.
