Ritz-Carlton's ill-fated Lake Las Vegas property will reopen
next year under the brand and management of Dolce Hotels and Resorts, Dolce
announced on Tuesday.
Ritz-Carlton shuttered the 349-room-and-suite, 15-acre
resort in May following financial difficulties. Then-president and COO Simon
Cooper told BTN that the property had suffered both from the overall travel slump in Las Vegas as well as the incompleteness of the Lake Las Vegas
development.
Dolce, however, said the property would be a natural fit for
its portfolio, as it focuses on properties on the outskirts of major
metropolitan areas with ample grounds and meeting space. Dolce currently
manages 27 such properties across North America and Europe. It plans to reopen
the property in the first quarter of 2011.
“We look forward to managing our first Las Vegas property
and working with the Lake Las Vegas community to help revitalize this charming
destination,” Dolce president and CEO Steven Rudnitsky said in a statement.
