Globally, 89 percent of travelers are at least somewhat willing to share their travel preferences with an app or a travel company, according to CWT and Artemis Group, which from Jan. 29 to Feb. 9 surveyed 2,700 people based in the Americas, Asia/Pacific and Europe who traveled at least four times for business in the previous 12 months.
In Asia/Pacific, 51 percent are somewhat willing to share their business and leisure travel preferences with travel companies or apps; 39 percent are extremely willing to do so for business travel, while 41 percent are for leisure. In the Americas, 44 percent are somewhat willing to share preferences for business travel and 41 percent are somewhat willing to do so; 47 percent are extremely willing for each business and leisure travel. In Europe, 35 percent are somewhat willing to share their preferences for business travel and 51 percent are extremely willing. For leisure travel, 35 percent are somewhat willing and 48 percent are extremely willing.
Ground Transportation
Sixty-four percent of travelers prefer chauffeured car service, ridehailing apps and taxis over rail and other public transportation. Globally, 54 percent prefer taxis over ridehailing apps like Uber and Lyft. In Europe, 69 percent state that preference, while in Asia/Pacific, 56 percent do. In the Americas, it's flipped, as 63 percent choose ridehailing apps. Drilling down to the U.S., 70 percent prefer ridehailing apps.
Air Transportation
Seventy-one percent of travelers from Asia/Pacific prefer window seats over aisle seats, compared with 66 percent globally, 65 percent in Europe and 59 percent in the Americas.
Globally, 52 percent of travelers are willing to miss their flights rather than be separated from their luggage. That number was 54 percent in the Americas, 52 percent in Europe and 50 percent in Asia/Pacific.
