Total U.S. flights operated in November 2024 increased 2.1 percent year over year to nearly 611,800, but were down 5.9 percent month over month, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's latest Air Travel Consumer Report, released Tuesday.
Carriers in November 2024 canceled 0.5 percent of their scheduled flights, which is up from the 0.1 percent rate in November 2023, but down from the 1 percent reported in October 2024.
Airlines with the lowest November rates of cancellations include JetBlue and Delta Air Lines Network at zero percent each, and Allegiant Air at 0.1 percent. Networks include branded codeshare partners. Carriers with the highest cancellation rates include Frontier Airlines (0.9 percent) and Alaska Airlines Network and United Airlines Network, each at 0.8 percent.
Reporting carriers in November handled 37.6 million bags and posted a mishandled baggage rate of 0.39 percent, slightly higher than the rate of 0.38 percent in October 2024 and equal to the rate of 0.39 percent in November 2023.
The November report did not address the ongoing lack of data about consumer complaints. The agency last released complaint information in September.
