Those lucky enough to travel to Hawaii for business can enjoy one final perk upon departure: lightning-fast internet. Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport has the fastest airport Wi-Fi in the U.S. and Canada, according to survey by Ookla. The mobile and broadband network intelligence specialist based its findings on mean download and upload speeds on the Wi-Fi networks of the 51 largest airports in the U.S and Canada during the first half of 2019.
Inouye International debuted in the annual ranking with a splash, taking the top spot with a download speed of 145.12 megabytes per second—a whopping 37.5 percent faster than second-place Chicago Midway, which also is new to the list. The two airports unseated Seattle-Tacoma, last year's winner for fastest airport Wi-Fi. Nashville International and Phoenix Sky Harbor rounded out the top five.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International had the slowest Wi-Fi, followed by Salt Lake City International, Houston's William P. Hobby, Southwest Florida International in Fort Myers and San Jose International.
Airline lounges often provided faster Wi-Fi than airports' general networks. The biggest discrepancy was at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental, where the United Lounge offered Wi-Fi more than 11 times faster than the airport's own network. However, airport networks still were the fastest options at 26 of the 51 airports Ookla studied.
