On April 15, former Atlas Air Holdings CEO William Flynn will succeed Richard Anderson as president and CEO of Amtrak.
Flynn, who had led the charter and freight service supplier since 2006, stepped down as its CEO at the beginning of this year. He previously held senior manager positions at rail freight supplier CSX Transportation as well as Sea-Land Services and GeoLogistics Corp.
"Bill has a consistent track record of growing and improving complex transportation businesses," Amtrak chairman Tony Coscia said in a statement. "We are confident he will build upon the strong foundation of record-setting growth and improvement set by the board, Richard and the entire Amtrak team."
Anderson, who took over as Amtrak's CEO in 2017, a year after departing as Delta CEO, had reached the end of his three-year commitment to Amtrak and will stay on as a senior advisor to Flynn through the end of 2020, according to Amtrak.
