Cathay Pacific and Airbus have formed a partnership to jointly invest up to $70 million to accelerate the development of sustainable aviation fuel production, the carrier announced Tuesday. The agreement was announced at the International Air Transport Association World Sustainability Symposium in Hong Kong.
"Projects will be accessed based on their commercial viability, technological maturity and potential for long-term offtake," according to Cathay. The partnership also includes collaboration to advocate for supportive SAF policies on both the supply and demand side across Asia.
In September, Cathay also joined as a launch investor in a $150 million Oneworld airline alliance SAF investment fund.
