September 2026 Announcements
For the week ending September 25
Delta Air Lines on May 7, 2027, will add nonstop service between Boston and Venice, Italy, the carrier announced Sept. 25. Flights will operate four times weekly through Oct. 29 with Airbus A330-300 aircraft featuring Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort and Main cabins. The carrier also on June 8 will launch service between Detroit and Athens, Greece. Flights will operate three times weekly through Oct. 28 with Airbus A330-200 aircraft configured with four cabins. The new summer routes are in addition to the previously announced Austin-Paris route launching March 27. In addition, service between Rome, Italy, and each Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit will begin in early March, followed by Seattle-Rome in April. Flights from New York JFK and each Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen also will return earlier than last year, as will service between Barcelona and each Boston and Seattle, and between Atlanta and Edinburgh. Detroit-Rome and New York-Copenhagen will operate daily when they resume.
Philippine Airlines in December 2026 will add flights between Manila and each Delhi and Mumbai in India, the carrier announced Sept. 25, "giving travelers from the United States and Canada new one-stop access to India." The Delhi flights will operate three times weekly, and the Mumbai flights will operate four times weekly, subject to Indian government approval. Each route will operate with Airbus A321neo aircraft configured with 12 lie-flat business-class seats and 156 economy seats.
Finnair will increase frequencies on routes to Tokyo for summer 2027, the carrier announced Sept. 24. Finnair will fly up to two daily flights between Helsinki and Tokyo Narita during the peak summer period, while continuing to serve Tokyo Haneda daily. Weekly flights will increase to 32 from 28 in response to "growing demand for travel to Asia, and Japan in particular," according to the carrier.
Alaska Airlines plans to increase its service at Seattle Paine Field International Airport, located in Everett, Wash., the carrier announced Sept. 24. Beginning spring 2027, a new route between the airport and San Jose, Calif., will operate twice daily by Alaska subsidiary Horizon Air with Embraer E175 aircraft. Flights between Seattle Paine Field and Los Angeles will grow to twice daily service, as will the route to and from Portland, Ore. Alaska also is adding more seats to San Diego and San Francisco from the airport.
Qantas in mid-2028 plans to launch the first-ever nonstop commercial service between Sydney and New York City, as part of the carrier's Project Sunrise, the airline announced Sept. 23. Read more here.
Condor plans to add three new European destinations to its spring 2027 schedule, the Frankfurt-based carrier announced Sept. 23. On April 28, 2027, Condor will launch daily flights between Frankfurt and Athens. Florence, Italy, will join the network on May 6, operating twice daily through the summer season. Service to Stockholm will begin May 13 and operate twice daily year-round. Each route will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft configured with business and economy classes. With these three additions, Condor will operate 16 European routes for the summer 2027 season.
KLM for the upcoming winter season—Oct. 25 to March 27, 2027—will bring back service between Amsterdam and Minneapolis for the first time since winter 2023, the carrier announced Sept. 22. KLM also will serve San Diego for the entire winter season for the first time, according to the airline.
British Airways in summer 2027 plans to expand service between London Heathrow and each Cincinnati and St. Louis, the carrier announced Sept. 22. Cincinnati flights will operate daily from April 22 to June 24 and from Sept. 9 to Oct. 26, up from five or six flights per week the rest of the summer season. The route also operates four times weekly in winter. St. Louis flights begin March 28, five times weekly before increasing to daily from April 19 to June 28 and again from Sept. 6 to Oct. 30. British Airways is increasing seat capacity on St. Louis flights by 80 percent compared with summer 2026. Each route operates with Boeing 787 aircraft.
Icelandair launched flights between Reykjavik's Keflavik International Airport and Gdansk Airport in Poland, the carrier announced Sept. 18. The route, Icelandair's first in Poland, will operate "three to four times weekly," according to the airline.
LOT Polish Airlines on Jan. 16, 2027, will launch flights between Warsaw and Turin, Italy, the carrier announced. The route currently is scheduled for the winter season through March 27. Flights will operate once weekly with Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. LOT also on April 5 launch flights between Gdansk and Paris Orly. The route will operate four times weekly year-round.
For the week ending September 18
Delta Air Lines on Sept. 18 announced three new routes as well as multiple frequency additions, mostly for its Los Angeles network. Read more here.
Air Canada on Nov. 30 will resume flights between Toronto Pearson and Tel Aviv, the carrier announced Sept. 15. Flights will operate year-round, four times weekly with Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft.
British Airways on May 29, 2027, will add flights between London Gatwick and Zanzibar with a stop in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, the carrier announced Sept. 17. The route will operate three times weekly through Oct. 31 with Boeing 777 aircraft. In addition, on March 28 the carrier will increase its London Heathrow-Buenos Aires service to daily with onward service to Santiago, Chile. The route is part of a 25 percent increase to British Airways' Latin America network for summer 2027, according to the carrier. Further, on March 28, London Heathrow-Rio de Janeiro service will have continuing service removed, meaning more dedicated service to the Brazilian city; Heathrow-San José, Costa Rica, service will operate year-round instead of seasonal; London Heathrow-Cape Town service will increase to 10 flights per week from daily; and London Heathrow-Las Vegas service will increase to 14 flights per week from 13, according to British Airways.
For the week ending September 11
Lufthansa Group carriers will "gradually resume" flight services to Dubai in late October, the company announced Sept. 9. Lufthansa on Oct. 25 will restart its route between Munich and Dubai, operating five times weekly with Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The Frankfurt-Dubai route will resume Oct. 26 and operate four times weekly until Nov. 9, when it will increase to five times weekly, with Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Swiss on Oct. 27 will resume daily service between Zurich and Dubai with Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Austrian Airlines on Dec. 12 will restart flights between Vienna and Dubai, operating five times weekly with Airbus A320neo aircraft.
La Compagnie on April 21, 2027, will launch nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Düsseldorf Airport, the all-business-class carrier announced Sept. 7. Flights will operate up to five times weekly for the summer season on Airbus A321neo LR aircraft. The new route is in response to business demand, with Düsseldorf's North Rhine-Westphalia region "one of the world's leading trade show destinations and a hub for international companies across fashion, telecommunications, life sciences, professional services and advanced manufacturing," according to the airline. La Compagnie noted that companies including Amazon, FedEx, Microsoft and UPS had locations in or near Düsseldorf. This nonstop service between the German city and the U.S. will be the first since Delta ended its Düsseldorf-Atlanta service in October 2023.
For the week ending September 4
Alaska Airlines on Dec. 19 will add service between San Diego and Loreto, Mexico, the carrier announced Sept. 3. The route will be the 50th nonstop from San Diego for the airline. The seasonal service will operate twice weekly with Embraer E175 aircraft.

Avianca has resumed service between Bogota and Caracas, and launched new nonstop service between Bogota and Maracaibo, Venezuela, the carrier announced Sept. 1. Each route operates daily with Airbus A320 aircraft.
