British Airways has signed a multi-year agreement to have renewable-fuels producer EcoCeres supply the carrier with sustainable aviation fuel, the fuel manufacturer announced Monday.
The amount of fuel to be purchased was not disclosed, but the deal is "expected to help the U.K.'s flagship carrier reduce lifecycle carbon emissions of approximately 400,000 metric tonnes, compared with use of the same volume of conventional jet fuel."
British Airways has committed to the use of 10 percent of SAF on its flights by 2030. BA director of sustainability Carrie Harris said in a statement that in 2024 SAF accounted for 2.7 percent of BA's total fuel use "and is contributing to our achievement of a 13 percent reduction in our carbon intensity since 2019."
