Delta Air Lines has hired Mayo Clinic executive Henry Ting as its chief health officer, a new position at the carrier.
In the role, Ting will "lead us in rethinking and reimagining our approach to health and well-being, utilizing new technologies, artificial intelligence, data strategies and innovative partnerships," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a memo to Delta employees. He will report directly to Bastian and work alongside the carrier's human resources, customer experience and corporate safety teams, Bastian said.
Delta has been partnering with the Mayo Clinic throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, and Ting, a cardiologist who serves as the clinic's chief value officer, already had been working with Delta as chair of the carrier's medical advisory council, including helping to develop the carrier's strategies for cleaning, testing and operational procedures to reduce Covid-19 spread. Ting officially will join Delta on Feb. 15.
