American Airlines in the late summer will debut a new lounge product geared for "travelers on the go" at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the carrier announced Tuesday.
Dubbed "Provisions by Admirals Club," the pared-down lounge will be located in Concourse A next to gate A1 and is designed for "quick access to personalized service and fresh food and beverage options, all within an intuitive, efficient layout," according to the carrier.
Food options will include sandwiches, salads, snacks and fresh fruit, with vegetarian choices also available, according to American. There will be high-top tables and "minimal furniture" to support quick visits and high-volume traffic.
Access to the Provisions lounge follows the same policies as at traditional Admirals Club lounges: through an Admirals Club membership, qualifying Oneworld status or the Citi/AAdvantage Executive credit card. Eligible AAdvantage status members also can access Provisions when traveling on qualifying international flights, according to American. One-day passes will be available at a cost of $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
The new concept for American is not dissimilar to United Airlines' United Club Fly product, introduced in November 2022 in Denver and expanded this past February to Houston.
At least one difference between the two concepts is that the Provisions by Admirals Club lounge will have representatives checking customers into the space and available for questions. United's Club Fly lounges use an automated self-check-in entry-gate system.
