Serko has developed an itinerary management tool that delivers trip information directly to a user's mobile wallet, the travel technology company announced.
The Intelligent Itinerary tool lets travelers see their itinerary details in their native mobile wallet—which are viewable on a mobile device's lock screen—and automatically updates the itinerary information if details change. That way, travelers do not have to go into their email or a separate app to view those details, according to Serko.
The tool currently is compatible with Apple, Google and Samsung mobile wallets.
Serko co-founder and CEO Darrin Grafton the company recently solicited ideas from its customers of the features they wished to see, and a better delivery method for travel and itinerary information ranked at the top of their list. Separate corporate travel apps have historically had problems with traveler adoption and low installation rates, according to the company.
"This is low friction but high intelligence," Grafton said. "It's always there and always refreshed."
Intelligent Itinerary currently is in its beta phase, with travelers and travel managers using the Zeno and GetThere platforms providing feedback. Serko plans to add features such as notifications when travel disruption occurs or if a traveler is close to a point of interest, such as an office. Ultimately, the company envisions it as a communications tool through which companies can send personalized content and messaging, according to Serko.
