Redefining Corporate Travel Through Connectivity, Innovation and Value

The Evolution of Corporate Travel: Why Connectivity Has Become Essential

Corporate travel continues to evolve alongside the way businesses operate.

Today, organisations work across markets, time zones and digital platforms, with employees expected to stay connected to colleagues and customers wherever business takes them. Cloud-based applications, virtual meetings and real-time communication have become part of everyday working life.

As a result, internet access is no longer simply a convenience or premium benefit. It has become a business necessity.

For corporate travellers, this expectation continues well after boarding a flight. The ability to remain connected and productive in the air has become an increasingly important part of the business travel experience.

Inflight connectivity has not always kept pace with these expectations. With Starlink, Qatar Airways is helping bridge that gap, bringing fast, reliable connectivity to the inflight experience.

For business travellers, this means being able to stay connected throughout their journey, from responding to emails and accessing corporate systems to collaborating on cloud-based documents and joining virtual meetings. Importantly, Starlink Wi-Fi is offered free of charge on equipped aircraft, giving passengers greater freedom to work, communicate or stay connected while travelling. Qatar Airways states that Starlink Wi-Fi can deliver speeds of up to 500 Mbps.

Recognising the growing importance of Wi-Fi connectivity to the modern travel experience, Qatar Airways launched Starlink connectivity onboard in October 2024 and has since rapidly expanded the technology across its widebody fleet.

Today, over 160 Qatar Airways widebody aircraft are equipped with Starlink, including the world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing Boeing 777, 787, and Airbus A350. With over half of the Boeing 787 fleet already equipped.

The scale of adoption reflects the growing importance of staying connected in the air. More than 28 million passengers have connected to Starlink across more than 106,000 Qatar Airways flights since the service was introduced, according to figures reported in September 2026.

This leadership in onboard connectivity has also received global recognition. At the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, Qatar Airways was named World’s Best Onboard Wi-Fi, becoming the first airline to receive the award. The category was introduced in 2026 to recognise the growing importance of fast, free onboard connectivity to the passenger experience.

For corporate travellers, these developments represent more than an improvement to the inflight experience. Reliable connectivity can help transform time spent in the air into connected, productive time, enabling travellers to remain closer to their businesses, colleagues and customers throughout their journey.

As the way businesses work continues to evolve, so too must the way people travel for business. Connectivity at 35,000 feet is no longer simply a nice-to-have. It has become part of what modern corporate travellers need to stay connected, productive and ready for business.

"Starlink Wi-Fi on Qatar Airways provides uninterrupted connectivity through the flight, which has helped me in staying in touch with work and family. As a frequent traveller, I'm a big fan of Starlink Wi-Fi on Qatar Airways and of course everything you offer in the Qsuite."

"Certainly, a wow factor when Qatar Airways provides Starlink Wi-fi free for all passengers from first class to the last row in economy class. It’s probably one of the fastest connections I have experienced."
