Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines have formed a joint business partnership after receiving approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia in January, the carriers announced Thursday.
The carriers secured the approval of the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore in July 2025.
The agreement includes Singapore's subsidiaries SilkAir and Scoot, and Malaysia's Firefly brand.
Subject to additional required government approvals, the carriers propose to share revenue on flights between Singapore and Malaysia, expand codeshare routes and participate in joint marketing activities. The carriers also would coordinate flight schedules and plan to offer joint fare products as well as align corporate travel programs, they said.
Today, the carriers codeshare on flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Penang. With the expansion, Singapore and SilkAir plan to codeshare on Malaysia's domestic flights and serve a total of 16 destinations in Malayasia, according to Singapore Airlines.
Malaysia, in return, will "progressively codeshare on flights between Singapore and Malaysia, Europe, South Africa and other destinations once approvals are granted," according to Singapore.
