A few days after the CEO of Australian airline group Qantas acknowledged the carrier planned no international flights until July 2021, Qantas announced the head of its international operations would leave the carrier Sept. 1.
Qantas International CEO Tino La Spina, who took that position in October 2019 after more than four years as Qantas' CFO, will depart the position, Qantas announced Monday.
Qantas Domestic CEO Andrew David will assume La Spina's responsibilities, according to the carrier.
"It's increasingly clear that our international flights will be grounded until at least mid-2021 and it will take years for activity to return to what it was before," Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said in a statement. "Under those circumstances, we've made the decision to consolidate the domestic and international business units under a single divisional CEO."
