Air Canada plans to resume 17 long-haul international routes to 11 destinations this summer as the carrier rebuilds its network.
Its plans include resuming up to four weekly flights between Calgary and Frankfurt starting Aug. 1, which will bring further global connections via joint business partner Lufthansa, according to Air Canada. Other routes set to resume from late July through early August include flights from Toronto to each Vienna, Dublin, Paris and Zurich and from Montreal to each Geneva, Tel Aviv and London.
In addition, Air Canada in August plans to boost service on already-resumed international routes, including from Toronto to each Athens, Dubai, Rome and Lisbon; from Montreal to each Athens, Casablanca, Rome and Lisbon; and from Vancouver to London. Air Canada also launched new service between Montreal and Cairo in recent weeks.
Air Canada noted that its plans are subject to change based on Covid-19 travel restrictions and infection rates. While Canada remains closed to non-essential international visitors, the government this week lifted quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents returning to the country, provided they test negative for Covid-19 both prior to travel and upon arrival.
