Sabre has set a deadline of Aug. 21 to close its acquisition of Farelogix, meaning the U.S. Department of Justice must file any objections in federal court before that date. The deal, announced last November, has been undergoing "a lengthy and exhaustive review" by the DOJ, according to Sabre. The companies had projected the deal would close by early this year. Sabre and Farelogix also have extended the agreement's termination date to April 30, 2020, in anticipation of a DOJ challenge. "This deal will allow us to provide our airline and agency customers with more and better choices, all while we continue to offer and invest in Farelogix's current suite of products and services," Sabre president and CEO Sean Menke said. "Over the past nine months, we believe we have done all we can to address the DOJ's concerns. While we hope the DOJ will ultimately realize that this transaction is procompetitive, we are prepared to vigorously defend the deal in court if necessary."
