The Global Business Travel Association will require holders
of CCTE, SMMC and CGTE designations to obtain "20 continuing education
units within a three-year period" to maintain their credentials, a
spokeswoman confirmed. The three-year period will begin Dec. 30, 2012. Such
credits can be collected by attending GBTA conferences and participating in
educational programs.
As part of the formation of the GBTA Academy, announced in
2011, the association said it would issue no new CTE, STP/SBTP, CCTE, CGTE or
SMMC certificates. Holders of those designations instead were welcomed into the
GBTA Academy.
"This requirement gives so many more opportunities to
all designation holders for their ongoing involvement," according to the
spokeswoman. "You need to keep track of all the continuing education units
earned and submit the renewal application form after all 20 CEUs are completed.
As soon as the application is processed, you will be notified if the
application was approved, denied or needs additional CEUs."
The continuing education application processing fee is $125.
