United Airlines later this year will begin flying to three
new international destinations, will resume and expand services to points in
Asia, and will add a second daily flight to Porto, Portugal, the carrier
announced Thursday.
New United Routes
The new routes include flights beginning Oct. 24 between
Newark Liberty International Airport and Marrakesh, Morocco. United will
operate the route three times weekly with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft that will
include 46 Polaris business seats and 22 Premium Plus seats. The carrier says
it will be the only airline to directly connect the U.S. with Marrakesh.
Beginning Oct. 27, United will launch daily flights between
Houston and Medellin, Colombia, using Boeing 737 aircraft, making it the first
time the carrier will fly directly to Medellin.
United also is adding service beginning July 31 between
Tokyo Narita International Airport and Cebu, the Philippines. The daily flights
will operate with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, and will have connections from
United's flights from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Newark and Houston to
Tokyo Narita.
United's Resumed, Expanded Asian Service
United is "continuing to rebuild" its mainland
China schedule and beginning Aug. 29 will add four weekly flights between
Shanghai and Los Angeles using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The route will increase
to daily service in late October. This service was made possible by the recent
agreement between the U.S. and Chinese governments to increase flights
between the two countries, according to United.
The carrier also on Oct. 25 will offer year-round twice
daily flights between San Francisco and Seoul. Beginning Oct. 26, United will
launch a second daily flight between Los Angeles and Hong Kong using Boeing
787-9 aircraft. The carrier previously announced new
service launching May 1 between Tokyo Haneda International Airport and
Guam.
Double the Flights to Porto
United on May 23 will add a second daily flight between
Newark and Porto, Portugal. It will be operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft,
and is the only U.S. carrier to serve Porto, according to United.
