United Airlines has developed a "Travel-Ready Center" for its website and app in which travelers can view and manage Covid-19-related entry requirements specific to their itineraries.
Upon its launch on Monday, the feature lists requirements specific to a traveler's destination, including a list of Covid-19 testing options that travelers can use, and lets them upload required testing or vaccination documentation. Designated United personnel will verify documentation after travelers upload it, and once all requirements are met, passengers can get their boarding passes prior to arriving to the airport.
During the next few months, United plans to enable travelers to book Covid-19 tests directly through the feature, with the results provided directly to United. The carrier also plans to add visa requirement details for international travel through the feature as well as integrate its Agent on Demand offering, through which travelers can video chat with an agent regarding any questions about travel requirements.
The tool comes a day in advance of new entry requirements established for the United States by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which require all inbound international travelers to have proof of a negative Covid-19 test. American Airlines earlier this month announced it was expanding availability of its mobile passport app partner VeriFly in advance of the new requirements, but United claims to be the first carrier to integrate such a tool into its own app and website.
