American Airlines is set to eliminate "hundreds of corporate jobs" according to a Tuesday report by Bloomberg.
The carrier confirmed to BTN it would lay off staff without specifying the number to be cut and added that none of the positions eliminated would affect the sales organization, which American has been in the process of rebuilding.
"We're making a small reduction to our management and support staff team to right-size for the work we do today," American said in a statement. "The positions are primarily at our Fort Worth headquarters and will help us optimize our performance and become even more efficient across the organization."
The carrier in the statement added that it would continue to invest "in areas that support American's long-term business objectives."
Word of the cuts comes nearly two weeks after American reported a third-quarter loss of $114 million along with 14 percent year-over-year growth in corporate revenue.
