Tewolde Gebremariam
Air India has named former Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam as its next CEO, the carrier announced. He will succeed Campbell Wilson, who in April announced his resignation.
Gebremariam was CEO of Ethiopian from January 2011 to March 2022 and had been with the carrier for more than 36 years, according to his LinkedIn profile. While at the carrier, he "spearheaded a multi-billion-dollar expansion, transforming a regional carrier into Africa's largest, most profitable, and decorated airline group—growing revenue by more than fourfold and fleet size nearly threefold," according to Air India.
The executive transition date will be announced "in due course," according to the airline.
