October average daily
hotel rates measured in U.S. dollars increased year over year in every global
region except Asia/Pacific, according to STR Global.
In the Americas, October
ADR increased by 3.1 percent to $114.71 and occupancy increased by 1 percent to
64.7 percent. The region's largest ADR increases were in Boston (up 8 percent
to $199.42) and San Francisco (up 5.4 percent to $218.18). The largest ADR
decrease was in Panama City, Panama (down 7.3 percent to $103.19).
In Europe, ADR rose 6.6
percent to $143.61 and occupancy increased by 3 percent to 73.2 percent,
according to STR Global. Measured in euros, however, ADR nearly was flat. The
largest ADR increase in euros occurred in Vilnius, Lithuania (up 33.2 percent
to €65), and the largest
decreases were in Madrid (down 11.8 percent to €87.20) and Moscow (down 8.9 percent to €145.79).
October ADR in the
Asia/Pacific region decreased by 3.7 percent year over year to $126.51 and
occupancy in the region increased by 3.1 percent to 72.5 percent, STR Global
reported. The firm also noted that hotels in Southeast Asia, particularly in
Bangkok, have had much stronger performance than other parts of the region.
In the Middle East and
Africa, ADR increased by 5.9 percent to $191.44 and occupancy decreased by 3.5
percent to 63.1 percent, according to STR Global. Abu Dhabi had the region's
largest increase in ADR (up 10.7 percent to $172.77), and Cairo had the largest
decrease (down 11.6 percent to $100.23).
