WestJet in 2023 will launch new service between Calgary and destinations in Japan and Europe to meet its goal of increasing capacity from Calgary by more than 25 percent, the carrier announced Monday.
WestJet plans to launch on April 30 service between Calgary and Tokyo Narita, which would be the carrier's first destination in Asia, according to WestJet. The three-times-weekly route will use Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
For Europe, WestJet will add in May daily nonstop service between Calgary and each Edinburgh, Scotland, and Barcelona, Spain. Both routes will operate seasonally up to three times weekly with Boeing 787 aircraft.
In addition, the carrier said it on April 6 would increase flights between Calgary and Rome to five times weekly, and on April 30 between Calgary and each London Gatwick and Dublin to daily and five times weekly, respectively. WestJet's Calgary routes to each London Heathrow and Paris will continue to operate daily from the current winter schedule.
