Canada on Oct. 1 will remove all Covid-19 entry restrictions, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced.
The removal means travelers no longer will be required to submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website, provide proof of vaccination, undergo testing prior to or upon arrival, carry out quarantine or isolation measures related to Covid-19 and report any signs or symptoms of Covid-19 upon entering Canada. In addition, Transport Canada on Oct. 1 will no longer require passengers to wear masks on planes and trains, nor will they have to undergo health checks for air and rail travel.
The agency said it is basing the removal of entry requirements on Canada's high vaccination rates, lower hospitalization and death rates and the availability of new boosters, rapid tests and Covid-19 treatments.
"Covid-19 border measures were always meant to be temporary, and we are making adjustments based on the current situation because that’s what Canadians expect," Canada Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino said in a statement.
