Southwest Airlines now is fully live in Travelport's Galileo global distribution system, completing the carrier's Travelport integration, the GDS provider announced Tuesday. The move comes two months after Southwest went live in Travelport's Apollo and Worldspan GDSs.
Travel management companies now can book, modify and cancel Southwest reservations within Travelport GDSs, and Travelport in a statement said it had "signed new long-term deals with a number of leading U.S. travel management companies," citing Orem, Utah-based CTI Business Travel as one.
Southwest Business VP Dave Harvey in a statement noted the rollout was "months ahead of schedule." The carrier has not yet said when its content would go live in the Amadeus GDS, but Harvey in April saidSouthwest projected it would happen by year-end.
