After almost doubling in 2023 to
regain pre-pandemic levels,
IMF’s U.S.-booked air
travel spend fell slightly in 2024
to $69 million, according to BTN’s estimate.
In the IMF’s most
recently published financial
statement for the year ending April
30, 2024,
administrative expenses for travel were 107 million
Special Drawing Rights, up from 81 million SDR for
the year to April 30,
2023. The SDR is
an international reserve asset created by the IMF to supplement the reserves of
its member countries. It
is not a currency. On April
30, 2024, 107 million
SDRs were
equivalent to approximately $140 million. The IMF
statement noted
that most of its travel expenditure is originally in
U.S.
dollars.
