Big changes were underway for consulting giant Deloitte's travel program in 2024. An extensive travel agency request for proposal conducted for the U.S. program resulted by the beginning of 2025 in moving the U.S. firm to blockchain-based travel tech startup Blockskye.
The move took a massive piece of Deloitte's business away from BCD Travel, which had served the consulting firm globally for more than two decades and moved the U.S. firm off GetThere as a booking tool, though 2024 air spend went through the prior TMC and booking tool. BCD continues to serve the broader Deloitte account in more than two dozen other geographies.
The consulting giant maintained its No. 2 spot on this year's Corporate Travel 100 list, despite its U.S.-originating air travel volume dropping slightly from $300 million in 2023 to $295 million in 2024. The company projects, however, that it will have a considerable rebound in U.S. air volume next year—up to $325 million.
Because Blockskye brings new technology models and supplier payment mechanisms into play, it's conceivable other changes could be on the way for Deloitte's U.S. travel program. In the meantime, the firm made no updates to travel policy in 2024.
Deloitte did have other developments in 2024. It made additional investments in sustainable aviation fuel and evaluated a third party for carbon emissions tracking.
