Meta, the parent of multiple apps including Facebook, Instagram and
WhatsApp, spent $275 million on U.S.-booked air travel for employees in 2024,
according to a BTN estimate.
The company acquired in July 2025
Play AI and in August 2025 WaveForms for undisclosed sums. Each is for use
with or to be integrated into Meta Superintelligence Labs, the AI division of
Meta.
In 2024, Meta's carbon footprint included 8.2 million metric tons
of carbon dioxide equivalent. Business travel accounted for 6 percent of that
total at nearly 468,000
CO2e, up from the 4 percent share reported in
2023.
The company's 2024 revenue was $164.5 billion,
up from the $134.9 billion
reported in 2023. Meta's global workforce as of Dec. 31, 2024, was 74,067
employees, an increase from the 67,300
employees reported the previous
year.
