Former Northwest Airlines sales executive Fay Beauchine last month was named executive vice president of global meetings, incentives and events for Carlson Marketing, a meetings and event management and marketing and performance services firm that is the sister company of Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
Beauchine was given the task of doubling the size of Carlson Marketing's meetings and incentives business. "The internal role is to lead about 500 people in the design, delivery and sales of strategic meetings, incentives and events on a global basis. The external role is to work with our partners who help us do that and to communicate what we do to the world's businesses," she said.
"Generally, our approach will be to use all of the assets of Carlson Marketing," she said, adding that other divisions of the company have "many offerings that we can use inside corporations to help them solve business problems. There are lots of tools in the Carlson toolkit, and the way we will double this business is to ensure that our global customers understand our offerings."
Prior to the appointment, Beauchine worked as senior vice president of enterprise strategic account management for Carlson. "Both jobs are strategic for Carlson. This was a natural transition to move to a business unit that deals with helping clients grow and globalize. It was easy to move from strategic account management to this, which is also strategic," she said.
Beauchine succeeds Robbin Rouillard, who left Carlson to pursue other interests, the company said.
Before coming to Carlson, Beauchine was vice president of sales and customer care for Northwest Airlines, where she worked for more than 25 years. She will continue to be based in Minneapolis and now reports to Jim Schroer, president and CEO of Carlson Marketing.
"Fay is widely recognized around the world as a true leader in the meeting, incentive and travel industry," said Schroer in a prepared statement.
BTN three times has named Beauchine to its annual list of the 25 most influential executives in the business travel industry, most recently in 1999
