The June on-time performance for North American carriers dropped month over month for eight of the 10 reporting airlines, according to the latest monthly report from aviation analytics company Cirium. The weighted average for the month declined by 3.8 percentage points compared with May to 75.5 percent.
WestJet held onto first place for a second consecutive month with an on-time performance of 86.4 percent. It also was the only carrier with an improved score compared with May, increasing 0.5 percentage points. Delta Air Lines again was second at 82.7 percent, the same score it had in May. Alaska Airlines was third at 80.6 percent, a 1.7 percentage point decline.
All the remaining carriers' June performance rates declined from May, but the order of ranking remained the same. Air Canada had the sharpest drop, at 6.8 percentage points to 71.9 percent, followed by Southwest Airlines, at 6.4 percentage points to 64 percent.

WestJet was the only North American carrier to make Cirium's June list of global on-time airlines at sixth. Saudia topped the list for a second consecutive month at 92.4 percent.
Two North American carriers in June had completion factor rates above 99 percent: WestJet at 99.43 percent and Alaska at 99.25 percent.
The number of North American flight cancellations in June was 14,128 compared with 10,309 in May.
A flight is considered on time if the aircraft arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
