Delta Air Lines yesterday launched its Delta Meeting Network, marking its return to discounting meeting fares,
which it abandoned when it rolled out SimpliFares in early 2005.
While the airline
abandoned much of that fare structure overhaul two years ago, it only now is returning to offering a product designed to attract corporate, association and incentive meeting travel. For the decade leading up to SimpliFares, the airline was one of the industry leaders when it came to negotiating meeting fares.
The basic product offers one free ticket for every 40 flown, plus discounts off published fares, for groups of at least 10 travelers traveling to any of the 376 destinations that it serves from at least two U.S. cities. As an introductory offer, Delta will provide one free ticket for every 20 flown for new contracts signed by Sept. 30.
