Hertz is rolling out enhanced navigation equipment,
expanding its self-service kiosk presence and increasing its green fleet, Hertz
senior vice president of sales Robert Stuart told Business Travel News this week.
The company is equipping its fleet in select locations with
the fifth generation of its NeverLost navigation system, which now includes
online trip planning services, Stuart said. Through the tool, travelers can
pre-program flight information and all necessary destinations before they
travel to be inputted directly into the system when they get their car.
“This can plot where you’re going to go, get all directions
and download it to a USB stick,” Stuart said. “You don’t have to program
anything, so you can make your trip a lot faster.”
In the next few weeks, Hertz also will be launching
location-specific guides with the system, including information about
restaurants, to load into the system, Stuart said.
Hertz also is increasing its number of self-service kiosks for
checking in at airport locations. The kiosks currently are at about 40 U.S.
airport locations, and recently Hertz began operating its first such kiosks in
Europe as well, according to Stuart.
Stuart said Hertz also continues to grow its green
collection and will add Mitsubishi and Nissan electric vehicles into its fleet
as they hit the market. Similarly, Enterprise Rent-A-Car this week announced it
would add 500 Nissan Leaf vehicles next year, and Avis plans to introduce
electric vehicles to its fleet in Europe next year.
