JetBlue Airways on May 12 plans to activate an interline agreement with South African Airways that enables customers to purchase itineraries, both through direct and agency channels, that connect JetBlue customers to 40 southern African destinations through its John F. Kennedy hub in New York, the carriers announced today.
JetBlue said the reciprocal agreement enables the carrier to jointly issue e-tickets for travel on SAA flights and provide seamless baggage handling.
As evidenced by another interline deal announced in March with American Airlines, executive vice president and chief commercial officer Robin Hayes told
BTN last month to expect more airline partnerships in light of the carrier's recent conversion to a new reservations system
(BTNonline, April 15).
