AirTran Offers Business Class Upgrades After Booking

AirTran Airways today introduced new options to upsell economy passengers into business class after booking. AirTran said it would sell business class seats to economy passengers for $49 to $99 per way—based on length of haul—via online checkin or on the plane before or after departure.

“With the option of onboard upgrades, passengers will be allowed the opportunity to move to Business Class if seats are available on their flight,” AirTran said in a statement today. “Flight attendants will offer customers the opportunity to upgrade at time of boarding, time permitting, or at cruising altitude. The onboard upgrades will be available to all customers, regardless of the fare class of their ticket purchased.”
