AA First To Match Delta's Commission Cut

American Airlines this afternoon followed Delta Air Lines in eliminating base commissions on all tickets issued by travel agencies in the United States--including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands--and Canada. The policy change, effective today, applies to all international and domestic tickets.

Delta's initial move last Thursday is expected to be matched by all major carriers--with the possible exception of maverick Southwest Airlines--in the next few weeks.
