Spirit Aviation Holdings has requested that the rights to two of the defunct airline's gates at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport be transferred to Delta Air Lines, according to a bankruptcy court filing.
Delta and an unnamed carrier bid on the gates, C4 and C6, with Spirit choosing Delta for an assignment fee of $12 million to take over the lease on the gates through June 30, 2031, according to the filing with the Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Court.
A hearing is scheduled for July 8 to consider the requested gate transfer.
Spirit ceased operations May 2 and is liquidating its assets.
