United Airlines EVP and chief administrative officer Brett Hart will become the carrier's president on May 20, when president Scott Kirby steps into the CEO position, the carrier announced. Hart has been with United since 2010, and his career at the carrier included a six-month stint as interim CEO when current CEO Oscar Munoz was recovering from a heart transplant. Before joining United, Hart was EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary at Sara Lee Corp. Like Kirby, Hart will be forgoing his salary as president as United manages through the Covid-19 crisis, and United will not be replacing him in the chief administrative officer role.
