Canadian carrier Porter Airlines has added Hopper Technology Solutions' Disruption Assistance product as an ancillary offering on the carrier's website, the companies announced.
With the product, which Porter is selling as Delay and Cancellation Assistance, passengers whose flights are disrupted by more than two hours or canceled within 24 hours of departure can rebook a new flight on another airline at no cost, within a certain maximum, and they can receive a full refund on their flight while keeping their original ticket if no satisfactory rebooking options are available.
The option is available only for Porter itineraries, not for itineraries that include flights on partner airlines, according to the companies.
The companies noted that the ancillary is independent of options available through Canada's Air Passenger Protection Regulations and covers some disruptions that are not eligible under those regulations.
European low-cost carrier Wizz Air announced last week that it had added HTS' disruption-assistance offering. Other carriers offering it include Frontier Airlines, Flair Airlines, Jazeera Airlines, Flyadeal and Azerbaijan Airlines as well as Thai online travel agency Gother.
