Low-cost carrier Breeze Airways, which launched in May 2021, continues to expand after adding new cities and routes in February.
The carrier will add 35 U.S. routes from 10 new cities with the first of the new routes to begin May 19, the company announced Tuesday. The additions will bring the carrier's schedule to 77 routes between 28 cities in 18 states. Most routes will be year-round, with seven of the 35 seasonal for the summer.
New cities include Fort Myers, Jacksonville and Sarasota/Bradenton in Florida; Las Vegas; Nashville; Savannah, Ga.; and Los Angeles, San Bernardino and San Francisco in California.
In addition, Breeze has ordered 80 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with options for 40 more that are scheduled for monthly delivery for six years, according to the carrier. The airline will more than double its fleet this year from 13 Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft to 30 aircraft, including 13 Airbus A220s and four additional Embraer jets. Breeze will begin to operate the A220 in May, according to the carrier.
"The A220-300 is a game-changer for us as we now add long-haul flights and transcontinental service," Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman said in a statement.
Breeze's initial A220 aircraft will feature 126 seats, including 36 in first class, 10 Extra Legroom seats and 80 standard economy seats. Later deliveries will offer 137 seats, with 12 in first class, 45 Extra Legroom seats and 80 standard economy, according to the carrier.
