Delta Air Lines has partnered with CVS Health to provide rapid-response Covid-19 testing for its employees. Delta will be offering the testing, which will be administered by CVS Health clinicians and take less than 15 minutes to determine whether the active virus is present, in crew lounges at its hubs.
"One of our most effective tools is testing," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a memo to employees on Tuesday. "It allows even those who are asymptomatic, but still contagious, to quarantine at home and not further expose coworkers and loved ones."
Delta already has been working with the Mayo Clinic and Quest Diagnostics to test employees both for the virus and antibodies and has been providing at-home testing to employees. The CVS partnership provides "another convenient and reliable option," and the carrier will continue to hone its testing program based on findings from the CVS testing, according to Delta EVP and chief people officer Joanne Smith.
