Alaska Airlines is in the process of enhancing its first-class and premium-class seats and features on select aircraft, the carrier announced Wednesday.
On Boeing 737-800 and Max 737-8 aircraft, Alaska is increasing the number of first-class seats to 16 from 12. The seats will have new leg rests, seatback device holders and USB-C charging ports. On Boeing 737-900ER and Max 737-9 aircraft, the carrier will have 30 premium-class seats available, up from 24.
Each new seat will have device holders, and "many of our aircraft" also will be getting USB-C charging ports, according to Alaska. The carrier also is moving the power outlet from the seatback "to provide even more legroom."
In addition, Alaska has introduced reserved overhead bin placards above its premium-class seats, so guests in that cabin have a designated space for carry-on luggage.
By the end of 2025, nearly all of the Boeing 737 aircraft in Alaska's fleet will have a consistent look and feel, with updated bulkheads, cabin divider, new seat leather and carpets, according to the carrier.
